The Benefits of Membership in Coarsegold Gold Prospectors Club
Coarsegold Gold Prospectors Club (CGPC) offers many opportunities for everyone regardless
whether you're a novice or a seasoned prospector. Also, since our organization is family
oriented, we welcome all ages, offer education to those who would like to learn this exciting
hobby, and provide numerous events at a variety of locations throughout the year.
For example, we have a combined group outing/meeting on the last full weekend (Saturday &
Sunday) of each month. On Saturday, we hold a general Membership Meeting at 10 a.m.
Immediately following the meeting we have a Club Raffle which provides great prospecting
equipment and gifts, as well as helps generate revenue to maintain Club resources such as our
gold claims, web site, administrative supplies, etc. At the conclusion of the raffle, most of the
attendees head off to spend the remainder of the weekend prospecting for gold.
As a CGPC Member, you will have access to all of the Clubs gold claims, anytime you
choose, and keep all the gold you find. In addition, all of the clubs current gold claims have
camping areas for your convenience. All we ask is: Keep it clean, if you pack it in - pack it out,
follow local, state and federal land use requirements, and respect others right to use the land for
recreational purposes. We Currently have over 320 acres of prospecting heaven in the
Greeley Hill, Ca. area, in the Oakhurst, Ca. area, in the Mammoth Pools, Ca. area and in
the Prather, Ca. area.
Occasionally, the Club will host a luncheon or dinner event for Members. These typically have
occurred on the Friday and/or the Saturday of our weekend group outings. Additionally, each
year during the months of November and December, the Club holds its meetings at Oakhurst,
CA. This meeting is followed by a wonderful luncheon prepared by our Members.
Since the majority of CGPCs events occur on or near the Clubs gold claims, the Board members
and staff can readily communicate with members via email, website and/or telephone regarding
any changes in the date, time and/or location of club events. Occasionally, unforeseen
circumstances such as poor weather conditions, road closings, etc., have required alternative
plans. As a result, we want to inform our Members as soon as possible as we realize driving a
long distance for nothing or to the wrong location may be disappointing.
As you know, many of us have become increasingly dialed into our computers or smart phones
and do not experience the real outdoors. Now is a good time to restructure our lives and
experience scenic travel, bird watching, tree and wild flower hunting, fishing, hiking,
picnicking, swimming, right along with prospecting. See the geology of our beautiful country in
real time rather than on television or a computer.
Therefore, whether you are out prospecting, participating in a CGPC raffle, or simply relaxing at
one of the Clubs events, I promise you will also experience the benefits of socializing with
friendly active people, distraction from daily routines or life problems, learn new information,
and have some fun...all of which will enhance your life, and be beneficial emotionally and
physically.
